If the scene is flowing, then I keep going and go back later to add or subtract, or fix.Brendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03721556815192785649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-133132309124375119.post-62854493852596407572011-03-15T07:38:08.465-04:002011-03-15T07:38:08.465-04:00I like revising (especially when you're doing ...I like revising (especially when you're doing what an editor tells you what to do) but I also like a clean first draft. When I first HAD CPs, I was shocked at how much they found wrong. And grateful, I might add.

Great post, Christi!Liz Flahertyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06794565644883272260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-133132309124375119.post-82890813289794846332011-03-15T01:13:01.616-04:002011-03-15T01:13:01.616-04:00I hate revising.

You guys get the first one, then fixed, it goes to the next round, and finally, I polish.

And polish some more.D'Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05333880627045486088noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-133132309124375119.post-86325571542749247422011-03-14T23:35:33.440-04:002011-03-14T23:35:33.440-04:00I figure if 1 way works, 2 ways will work better. ...I figure if 1 way works, 2 ways will work better. So I write as muc of the first draft as I can before going back. Sometimes i'm more than halfway done when i realize something is wrong with the beginning, sometimes I can't get past chapter 3 until Issue A is fixed. But I can usually get nearly through a wip - a very short, very issue-filled 1st draft before going back.Kristihttp://www.kristinaknightauthor.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-133132309124375119.post-26555599626941106672011-03-14T14:26:29.291-04:002011-03-14T14:26:29.291-04:00Great post! As far as adding emotions and incorporating usable crit suggestions, I wait until I type "the end"Shawnhttp://Bellsouth.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-133132309124375119.post-26763170004259872142011-03-14T14:15:37.029-04:002011-03-14T14:15:37.029-04:00PS--good post.PS--good post.Margiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03843006118151762550noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-133132309124375119.post-68921125098054363502011-03-14T14:15:26.348-04:002011-03-14T14:15:26.348-04:00Me too! It may have taken me longer to write the first full draft, but it will be done except for minoring tinkering. I've tried to shut down the inner editor, but I can't move on until I fix what's broken.Margiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03843006118151762550noreply@blogger.com
