No longer Lost

This week, my dominoes fell into line. As loyal followers know, I'm a pantser. But this week I discovered the ending of my book and how to get there.

Phew!

Talk about a load off my mind. Writing a book without an end in sight is kind of like freefalling through your mind. Seeing as I'm 57,000+ words invested and I was starting to get concerned about where it was going.

Sure, I'd come up with a some ideas along the way, but none of them seemed to be panning out.
The road kept going around unexpected bends and curves.

I now know how the creators of "Lost" must have felt when they got an end date on their show. Once they knew how much time they had to tell their story, they knew what they had to do to get to the end they'd always envisioned.

I now have that and I also have a pseudo-outline. I have a map and it's a great feeling. I may have to go back and correct a couple of speedbumps, but I can live with that. Now, if I could only find time to write between work and holiday wrangling.

On another note, a couple of months ago I blogged about my friend Derrick, who is a real-life hero. Well, I'm not the only one who thinks so. Here's a link to a news story done on him by the Portland station, KPTV

You may have to copy and paste, but it's worth it. The tagline is "rare, complex surgery saves Vancouver man".

I hope you all check him out. Have a most wonderful holiday!
