Introducing Sara Tribble,

Today I'm pleased to introduce a new and upcoming writer, Sara Tribble, who will have her first book published this fall.

Book Blurb:

Sixteen-year-old, Sonata Wilde is living in Hell.

Not literally Hell, more like a prison stashed away in the mountains known as The Cell. All mythical beings were banished to live here nine years ago, segregated from the humans. Being trapped in captivity is breaking her down and the temptation of escaping grows stronger, regardless of what it might cost her.

No one has ever made it out of The Cell, not with the extreme voltage on the wires and constant guards on patrol. It’s damn near impossible, minus one loophole. Sonata has a plan ready to set in motion, along with help standing by to make sure it all goes accordingly. The taste of freedom is within her grasp and she’s ready to embrace it once again.

All she has to do now is stay alive.

Now onto the the interview:

1-Because I'm intrigued by your book blurb, I'd like to know where you got the idea for this book.

I actually got the idea for Beyond The Cell from a song by AFI, End Transmission, while driving into the sunrise on my way to work. The idea of teens running away from something, with a loaded gun, just intrigued me. When I got to work, I wrote a conflicting scene between a male and female character that eventually turned into Sonata and her crush, Razz. From there, I let my urban fantasy love take over and they became mythical beings forced into a bad fate.

2-How do you mine your ideas to become full-fledged stories?

I am seriously so bad at this. When I first started writing, I could start one project and finish it and then, only then, move on. However, I now have several started projects, at different lengths, and I hate it! Ideas are wonderful, but unless you are dedicated, they will only stay ideas. You have to really try to be persistent, whether it’s 500 words or up to 4,500 words a day and want to make time for it, which is easier said than done.

I truly believe if you’re feeling the story, the idea will make sense and plots and twists will usually follow because as writers, you crave the reactions from your characters and readers, but if you don’t try to write anything for weeks, that excitement will fire down and trust me, you don’t want that because it’s a hard recovery!

3-When you want to get away from it all, who are your go-to authors to read? Your favorite genre?

I have really loved Daniel X Books lately and I have never read anything by James Patterson until those, they rock. I tend to not re-read books so my go-to authors are usually based on my Goodreads ratings or word of mouth from friends. I’m willing to read any author, famous or not. I am guilty of always reading a story from my collection of Grimm’s Fairy Tales, they make fairy tales real.

My favorite genre would have to be urban fantasy, only because the books I love tend to be just that. I truly adore fantasy, all forms, some Sci-Fi and Horror or anything else that gives a book an edge past reality.

4-Plotter or pantser? Do you have a writing process?

I used to be able to just write, but as I continued to write I found myself lacking elements, which made me start using an outline. My outlines just tend to be the Chapters and what ultimately needs to happen and the rest of the chapter I try to fill in around it. I do continue to try to write every day, regardless if it is a short story, freelance project, essays for school or my own manuscripts. Sometimes, depending on the project, I will listen to some tunes.

5-Best writing tip you've ever gotten

Keep writing. I know, people say it all the time, but it’s the truth. If you keep at it, you will improve your own craft and it shows. It’s pretty awesome to see my first attempt at a manuscript to those later on.

Quick five:
Drink of choice:
Wild Cherry Pepsi
Favorite vacation spot:

Place you'd most like to visit:

Snack you have stashed around house:

Favorite game to play with friends or family:

Last question--which I stole from Liz--What's one question you'd like to be asked and haven't. And what's your answer:

What’s your favorite paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi character?

I have always had a soft spot for witches, they are awesome, but I really like aliens (scary or nice) as well.
