To The Forgotten Mothers

,
I want to give a shout out to the forgotten mothers. The mothers that aren't acknowledged on Mother's Day. I want to give a shout out to my sister. Though she doesn't have any children of her own, she helped me and hubby raise ours. She was the extra pair of ears and eyes when we needed them. Let's face it. Our children don't tell us everything. We'd like to believe they feel like they could come to us with anything, but it helps sometimes to talk to someone other than mom and dad. So thank you, sis, and brother in law, for being there. To the single fathers who are raising their sons and daughters without the benefit of having a woman around. I see you. And I want to say Happy Mother's Day. To the neighbor who comes to you when your child has done wrong, or right. Happy Mother's Day. To the village that helped raise a child, Happy Mother's Day to you all. You are not forgotten.

  1. Very nice, Shawn. I have a sister-in-law, Sadie, who--even though she's only six years older than I am--has often been the mother figure when I've needed it since losing my own.

    Happy Mother's Day to all.

  2. What a wonderful post, Shawn! To the moms in my daughter's pre-school who have helped their children understand adoption, Happy Mother's Day to you!
