Your Turn

When you read author interviews, do you find yourself answering the questions in your own voice? Because I do. I think of the day that I’m published and what answers I’ll give.

Like my go-to snack is cinnamon Jelly Bellys. My favorite drink is a Starbucks white chocolate mocha, but I usually get a sugar-free caramel latte because it’s way less in calories. See how my game is played? Now it's your turn.

Published or no, this is your interview question:

Besides your main character, who is your favorite character to write?

In my WIP, my second-favorite character is Caitlyn Storm who Bix is constantly at odds with.

Say cheese!” Caitlyn aims a camera in my direction. “Let’s get one more just to be sure.” And she snaps another picture.

“You!” Anger-fueled adrenaline surges and I’m on my feet. “You pretended to be Claire?”

“I’m pretty good at it. I’ve had tons of practice.” Caitlyn brags, removing the SD card and tucking it down her shirt.

“What’s with the picture?”  What’s she up to?

“Haven’t you figured out where we are?”

I scan the room. Pink lockers, chipped benches, stalls. Oh, frak! “The girl’s locker room?”

She nods, looking a little too pleased with herself. “Now everyone will see what a perv you really are.” She pats her breastplate. “Bix smelling the locker room floor.”

“I wasn’t smelling it.” Which if she has her way, I’ll be saying quite a lot in the days to come.

“A picture’s worth a thousand protests.”

Now, tell us yours and feel free to leave a sample. Or you can just tell us what super power you’d choose. Mine would be teleporting.Or flying. I go back and forth on that one.

Have fun!

  1. Fun scene!! Hmmm...other than Kathleen and Jackson, I think my favorite character to write was The Grandfather, Mitchum. He was a hoot!!

  2. LOL I love her, Margie.

My fave character is actually Martin. He never appears on screen, but he was a blast.

You'll be getting lots of your own interviews soon, Margie.

  3. Yes, you will, Margie.

My favorite ones to write are always the old people (I always have them in books) because I don't have to worry about what they look like. They're always funny, always have hearts of gold, and are just...easy.

And the super power I want is to eat whatever I want and remain a size six--not that I AM a size six, but I'd like that to be part of it. Does that count?

  4. I love writing villians. I had a ball writing Monica in Dreamers. Super power I'd want? I guess I'd like to be like the Human Torch from The Fantastic Four.

  5. I think my favorite supporting character to write in "Storm Chaser" is the male protagonist's little sister, Beth. Which is weird, because she's a 15 year old girl and I'm -- not. I just love her honesty and energy, and the way she tackles whatever she does with such gusto.
