To Love Again

I'm ready to fall in love again. There I said it. And it's not that I'm unhappy in my marriage. Still love, love my husband.

But, I'm ready to fall in love with a new project.

See, as my little loyal following will know, I've spent the past three-almost four--years obsessed with my boy Bix. And now that he's out in the slush piles and on request, I have to let him go for the time-being. And even though I 'm sure there are more Bix stories to be told, I don't want to write something until I have a "professional" plan to follow.

So, I need a new character to fall in love with. And I've tried. Really tried.

I have Bronte and Sami from Small Town Armegeddon. But I can't quite get the beginning going or the voices just right.

I have Callie and Yuri from Daughter of Greece. But again, I'm having trouble with something that I can't even quite put my finger on--and I keep stalling out.

I can slip in and out of Bix's voice without effort. Maybe because I spent so much time with him or maybe because he's my alter-ego. And I want that again. That wonderful love for a character--the relationship that wakes you up in the middle of the night with sweet whispers of dialogue and kisses you goodnight with dreams of the future.

So, last night I went through some 'old' stuff and found a project that once held my heart. I found some filed crits of the first chapter and the uber-positive comments from my ceeps. So, today I'm printing out that first chapter again, and going to go through my file of notes. And maybe this will be the return of Cap'n Jack and Cameron.

Happy Valentine's Day and may you all fall in love a little bit today!

  1. When I finish a project, I always greive a little. I hate to say goodbye.

    Cap'n Jack, come on, baby!

    1. This was more than grieving, though. It was almost writer's block. Not going to admit to writer's block, because I don't get sick. And that would be sick to my writing soul. But it was definitely close.
