Spring Fever!

This has been the longest winter on record across most of the country. It hasn’t been horrible here in Western Colorado, but I still have a terrible case of cabin fever. I love to flower garden. It’s one of my main passions. The ground is still half frozen and I haven’t had a single tulip bloom yet. We lease our acreage to farmers who grow corn. They’ve begun plowing, the scent of fresh turned earth fills the air. The horses are shedding their winter coats and are in that funny molting stage where they look like ragamuffins. I’m dying to get my hubs to throw some shoes on the horses so my daughter and I can ride. I write fairly quickly. Usually. You’d think this past endless winter would have been prime time for writing my latest book. But it seemed to go on like the winter—forever. It dragged and dragged. But I finally did finish the first draft about three days ago. Now, I beging rewriting. I’m anxious to start two new projects calling my name. Like the flowers and the horses, I’m dying to get to them. We here at Wordwranglers, decided to take a little break through April. We’re going to plant flowers, grow corn, ride horses, maybe start a new manuscript or two! At least I am! We’ll see you back in May!

  1. Our fields are still under a couple of feet of snow - now plowing yet and spring fever is getting to me. Have a great April and hope there's lots of great time to write and ride.

  3. Yesterday morning it snowed here, D'Ann. Not enough to stick anywhere but we all groaned. We are so ready for warm weather and flowers and ... heck, just walking outside without 3-4 layers of clothes on!

  4. We haven't had snow here in Houston, but it's been colder than usual off and on. Good luck on your rewrites and getting to those new manuscripts :)

  5. Spring is showing her face around here. And like you, I love gardening: flowers and vegis. I have started the hard task of cleaning the yard after many windstorms over the winter.

  6. Enjoyed your post, D'Ann. We haven't had much snow here in Missouri, at least not like past years. But I still can't wait to feel the sun seep into my old bones!

  7. Have a wonderful April. I just came in from my flower garden - it's a mess and needs lots of cleaning, which I enjoy. It's 70 in Salt Lake City, but rain & snow expected tomorrow, so I have to get out and enjoy while I could. Now it's time to get back to writing.

  8. Congrats D'Ann on your completion of the draft! I'm jealous. Jealous also to smell the earth. The snow was falling again today and I'm ready for spring... so ready!

  9. I'm a bit green that you can write quickly! But I do agree--I'm ready for spring. Here in the Midwest, the winter has been hard and long!! And the bulbs are slow in blooming. Hope you and your daughter can get out on the horses soon! Barb Bettis

  11. I am always ready for spring. I love going to the farmer's market-went last week for the first time--and finding new plants to grow. Our winter was nothing as harsh as the rest of the country and I'm still glad to see spring arrive.

Good luck on your projects, D!
