As I write this, I have to stop every few seconds to fan myself. The air is on full blast, and I'm sitting here with sweat running down my back, and a hand held fan. Pictured fans are the ones I keep at home. I keep one in the car. My air conditioner went out for the second time this summer. ACK!!! I keep two at work, one for a co-worker who has the same problem. Personal summers have become a way of life.
I've never written a female character over the age of thirty-five. Why? Because right now, for me, forty-something is not all that glamorous. I'd probably write a very undesirable forty-something character. One of the Wranglers, Liz, writes great forty and older characters. Love them all.
I'd like to write a character closer to my own age one day. After all the hot flashes and mood swings disappear, maybe I'll give it a go. Right now, I hear an ice cold shower calling me.
LOL. That's what makes older characters empathetic, Shawn--they suffer for their greatness! Hugs to you on the "hots."
ReplyDeleteThanks, Liz. My mom keeps looking at me like she wants to die laughing. I think she's remembering when she went through it and we all thought she was nuts.
DeleteI dread hitting the flash season! Knock on wood, it hasn't visited me yet. I'm warm all the time and don't have air-conditioning any where---home or car. So, I know I'll be beyond miserable.
ReplyDeleteOh, Margie, you might want to keep a lot of ice on hand.
DeleteIt is effing horrible. That is all.
