Ramblings of a Headache,,,

I woke up with a headache. Not a huge headache, just one in my forehead that seems to be affecting the way I think. Focus.

So, I guess this is going to be one of those stream-of-conscious  type blogs that Liz loves me to write.

I started a new project that I told you about last week, using the Snowflake Method, and this week I dreamt about my WIP. Three times. And I never dream about my writing. I do think about it as I drift to sleep, but my dreams are never about my fiction, no matter how much I want them to be. Until this week. How cool is that?

A number of years ago--that seems longer than a few years ago, right? I wonder why?

Focus.

Where has Dennis Quaid disappeared to???

Mimi's--our dog--health is still up in the air. She is possibly bleeding internally, but I can't afford the exploratory surgery to find out why.

As I drove home from the vet after another blood test, I thought about how our lives are a little in limbo, waiting to see if Mimi is going to be okay or when/if we will have to put her down.

And I thought about cancer families. Especially the ones where it involves a child. Because that's in my book. The heroine's son is in an optimistic remission.

Going through this with a dog is not an ample comparison--but when I think about how much it has affected our lives and our thoughts--I magnify that my a thousand and maybe, I've gotten a little closer to how these families cope. And maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to parlay that into some worthy scenes in my book.

Still no word on Dennis Quaid?

I finally read Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. I don't know if that's his real name--can you imagine calling a baby Ransom???--but it's a really great writer's name. And it's a really great book--lived up to the bucket loads of accolades and the bestseller list. I'm getting ready to read the next one, but first I'm going to read Meet Me At The Beach by V.K. Sykes. I'm ready for something romantic and lighter and it was recommended by one of my favorite authors via Facebook.

I think I follow more authors than friends on Facebook. Mmmm...

The 100 was amazing last night! That show has more unexpected twists and turns than most other shows. And seriously Grounders, "Blood Must Have Blood" shouldn't be your clan motto if you turn tail and run because of a deal. I'm just saying....

On that note, I'm off in search of Dennis Quaid...Have a great day...

  1. I hope the headache faded away, Margie! And I love your stream-of-consciousness posts...and I have no idea where DQ has gone but now I want to find out. Also I want a chocolate-dipped vanilla ice cream cone but our Dairy Queen doesn't open for another month.

    1. LOL--You went from one DQ to another. Stream-of-conscious comment :) Your DQ closes down in the Winter??? Or is it a new store? We have a family-owned DQ about a mile away and I love it--just because it's maintained that neighborhood atmosphere in a sea of franchises :)

  2. Sending healing thoughts to you and Mimi. In the old western, THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE, Jimmy Stewart's name was Ransom Stoddard (spelling might be off), and they all called him Rance. I always liked the name, but couldn't ever see it on anyone except Jimmy Stewart.

    1. Thanks, Liz. Mimi actually seems okay--she's eating again and has energy and is alert--so, I'm beginning to feel more optimistic.

I can't imagine calling a baby Rance either. It just feels like such an adult name. But I do like it.

  3. Dennis Quaid recently finished filming a movie called "Truth", about CBS News, which is post-production.
See, I'm just getting over a migraine, and it was going to come back if I didn't find the answer to that ...
