Day Starters

By Margie Senechal

Some days just begin better than others.

For me, there are some triggers that help my day get off to a good start.

One of them is to begin the day in manuscript. When I wake up  thinking about my book and keep at it.

Monday was a good writing day. I stayed in manuscript most of the day. If I wasn't writing, I was thinking about my book and plot point, making notes on my lunch and breaks.

I love that feeling--total immersion in my creation.

Another good day starter is a dream. My best days seem to follow dreams of my Dad. He passed away six years ago and whenever I have a Dad dream, I wake up in a good--no, spectacular mood and the feeling seems to linger throughout the day.

But, other dreams also bring a good day. Once I dreamt I could fly. Not just fly, but soar. And my soul kind of soared all day long.

Last night I had weird dreams--but I woke up in wonderment, and I'm still trying to decipher what was going on. I was in France and there was some deep mystery going on. Waking up with intrigue isn't bad either.

Weather also plays a part in starting off the day in a good way or bad way. Right now I'm enjoying the slight chill of the early morning and the dappled sunshine coming through the trees in the back yard. And rain! For me, rain is always a great day. Too bad it went back into remission.

So, tell me what starts your day off the right way? Oh, and the meme above? Another one for my WIP...And now, onto my day.

  1. I like my day to start when it's still dark (easy to do as we go into fall). If I'm in the office with tea by daybreak, it's a good start! Hope yours is going well, Margie!

    1. Even though I rarely begin my days that early, I do love the early morning. I love the smell in the air before daybreak. It's my Monday, so hopefully it will be a good one :)

  3. I love starting my day with coffee, coffee, coffee--the whole ritual of grinding beans and making a pot--then up to my workroom to write or edit, depending on which is most urgent. I'd drink coffee all day if--oh heck, sometimes in the winter, I do!

    1. Coffee is just a given for me. But, I'm new fashioned and use a Keruig machine that my mom handed down or stop at Starbucks on my way to work.
