It has been so busy lately that I feel like there hasn't been time to draw a decently deep breath, much less just fritter time away or think about things just because I can or--gasp!--waste a couple of hours just because they're there.
There's been a lot of promotion going on. For A Heartwarming Christmas. For a free Thanksgiving story. For a brand new right-out-of-the-box newsletter. For my April of 2016 book, Every Time We Say Goodbye. Even a little in passing for Kristi's fabulous new book, First Love Again and Nan's The Summer of Second Chances because, as writers and friends who have great faith in each other's abilities, that's what we do.
We went last night to see Spamalot at Tipton Community Theatre. I'd never seen the play before and I'm not a big Monty Python fan, but it was hilarious! Duane's rehearsing for It's A Wonderful Life. He's Bert the cop and having a good time.
Sometimes I even write.
I'm writing this blog on Sunday. So far today I have eaten a bologna sandwich and dry Froot Loops
for breakfast--don't judge!--skipped church because of a lingering cough and sore throat (but went over and printed bulletins and changed the sign so I feel like I've been there anyway), done the morning stuff on Facebook, and...this. And now, as soon as I'm done with this, you know what I'm gonna do?
That's right. I'm going to fritter. I'm going to cut quilt pieces. And watch Hallmark movies. And maybe eat another bologna sandwich for lunch. It will be just a day, and, once again:
Have a great week!

“What day is it,?” asked Pooh. “It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.“My favorite day,” said Pooh.” ― A.A. Milne
Just a thank you, as Veterans Day is Wednesday, to all those who serve. We are romance writers, we write about heroes and heroines all the time. Thank you all for giving us such a great baseline to work from.
Have a great week!
Hope you enjoyed your frittering, Liz! It's difficult to do when we feel the constant urge/pressure to write, but taking a "sanity day" is priceless!
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful! However, I'm now buried in a gazillion blue and yellow quilt pieces that are going together...shall I say unexpectedly. One day, I will not only READ pattern instructions, I'll also understand what I'm reading!
DeleteI love those days - we had that kind of day on Saturday and it was so great! Love that Pooh quote, too. :)
ReplyDeleteThat quote has become my mantra! Glad you had a good Saturday. Makes for a good start ot another week, doesn't it?
DeleteI love that quote, too, Liz, but ever since I saw the naughty version of it a few months ago, I can't help but remember it when I see the quote now. I'm a terrible, terrible person, I know.
ReplyDeleteDays like your Sunday are few and far between, aren't they? That work ethic is too deeply ingrained to allow me to have very many of them, although I waste an amazing amount of time each day just putzing around on the Web and answering emails and even simply staring into space. Great post!! Thanks! I'm going to look at it as permission...well...just as soon as I get this edit done... ;-)
Don't tell me the naughty version--I don't want to know! :-) I join you in that time-wasting thing.
DeleteGlad you took the time to fritter. Me, I spent Sunday working on the pasture fence. Then I took a nap!
ReplyDeleteGood for the soul, naps. Fixing fence? Not so much. :-)
DeleteYour day sounds almost leisurely to me -- four separate deadlines breathing down my neck.
ReplyDeleteIt as leisurely and I loved it! Good luck with the deadlines, Helen!
DeleteLove fritter days. And Hallmark Christmas movies. I had one on the other day while I frittered away over my Halloween puzzle that I have yet to finish. LOL
ReplyDeleteThey go together, don't they? Frittering and Hallmark movies. Add in a sewing machine and something hot to drink and you're there.
DeleteLove the quote, and love that you frittered. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt was great, Roben!
DeleteLove the quote. If we are living in the moment, every day should be our favorite day. There is always that moment of panic after I have cut quilt pieces when I think, "What am I doing?" Then it passes and I get busy. Glad you had a day to fritter - and eat a bologna sandwich for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI swear, I feel that way all the time until the quilt is finished. I just can't "see" it until then. And mine always have an embarrassing number of mistakes in them, although no one minds so I don't either.
