Seeking Accountability

by Margie Senechal

I think I've discovered why I'm not as productive of a writer as I'd like to be. Of course, this could just be another excuse on my path to not finishing a Work-in-process.

I have too many stories rambling around in my head. I want to write them all but instead, I write nothing.

So, to that end, I came up with a plan and created a blog--www.wishwryting.blogspot.com--to chronicle my process. But, then it occurred to me that if nobody reads that blog, I really don't have any accountability. So, I'm posting the link here if anyone wants to chime in.

Essentially, the plan is to write 1000 words each day on a different project. I figure this will help in a couple of ways. By the end of the year, I'll have five almost complete books, or I will have whittled down the ideas to one or two manuscripts, realizing the other ones don't have legs. Either way it could be a win-win. Hopefully not a lose-lose.

To that end, I spent my last two days off prepping for the plan. I cleaned up my writing space. as seen above. Trust me--that is clean. You can actually see the desk. Plus, I have color-coded files for each project--three a piece right now, one for chapters in progress, one for research, and one for notes/brainstorming.

I also have notebooks for each project that I will carry to work on the day of said project.

I'm not sure if this will work, but I am excited about getting organized and having  a plan. Do check out the wishwryting blog to see a more detailed plan of the plan. Apparently, I need another word for plan.

So, there you go. Margie's Chaos Project. We'll see how it goes. Have a great day!

    1. OF course. And if you do, please keep me posted. I'd like to see if this works out for anyone else. If indeed, it works for me ;)

  7. A plan! I love those, and sticking to it will make it work. It's the sticking to it part, though ...
