'Mid pleasures and palaces

Congratulations, Margie--you win the giveaway from last week's trip to Michigan! Thanks to everyone who visited and/or commented. We had a great week, but I gotta tell you at least one of us is tired. The driver probably is, too.

I love being home. With the boyfriend. With the cats gazing at me with those "you're grounded, Mom" looks. Back to the place Nan today referred to as "the back of the beyond" (I've always wondered what the "front of the beyond" is.) It is quiet and still and autumn's impending arrival brings all the senses vibrantly alive. The sky is light blue with a hint of pink this morning, casting gold onto the field and the woods.

It was steaks and salad for supper, teaching the boyfriend to play Farkle and being soundly beaten. Soundly beaten. I should be used to that after being trounced by Nan a few times--although I got some trouncing in, too. It's a simple fun game and a new discovery.

It's fun being back in my office, too, my favorite space with my big teacher's desk and my view of sunrise. But I admit I miss Nan sitting over there working while I work, reading to me and listening when I read. She helps with grammar. I help with backstory. There is the occasional "Is this really a word?" and celebrating when "There it is! Flow!" The talking--"Will we ever get tired of talking?" "Probably not." And we haven't.

But, I am home. With the golden morning sky, the hungry cats, and the other half of my heart.

I am blissful.

Have a great week.

Liz

    1. That's it exactly. I'm so thrilled to be home now, but we're taking off for Florida in a couple of weeks and I'll be thrilled again.

  4. Glad to be home...truly home because we left the lake this morning and are now back in the city house. Mowing and weeding and cutting back the beginnings of fall detritus starts tomorrow, but today was the grocery and and catching up... Glad to have had a truly glorious vacation/writing retreat with Lizzie, but happy to be home with Husband. He missed me and I missed him!
