Good morning! If you are Christmas-inclined, are you getting ready for it yet? I certainly am, although I've cut back on decorating simply because I'm tired and just a trifle over-extended. Maybe next year.
I loved Nan's quiz last week. If you missed it, visit here and share your answers. Then run back over here and answer a few more. Like these:
Oh, did someone say cookie? My favorite is Cherry Winks. I was going to type the recipe in here, but laziness prevailed--let me direct you to the one I use. Enjoy, and if you want to send me some, I'm good with that.
Speaking of presents...yes, of course we were...I'm going to send one out to a commenter each week. I'm not sure what it will be, but it will probably involve a stocking or an ornament. Maybe some socks. Maybe even a download to this year's visit to Christmas Town.
So, happy December. We hope you join us in our reindeer games this month.
Have a great week!

Liz, I love this. I started my Christmas shopping, almost done, but I don't have many to buy for. And online is Great! I have no decorations up yet, too busy with other things and I really need to clean the floor first.
ReplyDeleteI've been watching the Christmas movies on Hallmark since Halloween, so I really need to get moving on having things done. Thanks for the gentle push.
I understand the busy! Thanks for coming by, Shirley.
DeleteHard to pick a favorite song...I love to hear all the old carols. In the Bleak Midwinter is still right up near the top of my list. Am reading one if the Betty Neel Christmas anthologies ( I have several). Cookies? Not so much. Even with gluten-freebies out there, I don't bake or eat holiday yum-os. My sewing machine is getting a work-out though. Lis is here and we're making placemats, napkins, and pillow covers. Those cover her b-day and Christmas this year. Will tell you more after I dig out from under yards and yards and yards of fabric. 😊
ReplyDeleteHope you and Lis are having fun!
DeleteFun!! Christmas Song = Joni Mitchell's "River," but the James Taylor version. Actually his entire Christmas album is one I could listen to for hours. But in church, it has to be "Mary, Did You Know?"
ReplyDeleteI'm not a Christmas Romance reader--or I wasn't until last year's Christmas Town anthology. I just finished a book by Juliet Sobanet, and I've got this year's Christmas Town waiting for me.
Christmas cookie has to be Husband's cooky press cookies. Man, they're tasty!
James Taylor is a gift unto himself, isn't he? :-)
DeleteOoh...my favorite Christmas song is going to change depending on the hour or the weather or, heck, what I'm snacking on...but for right now, I'm going to say the Muppets 12 Days of Christmas.
ReplyDeleteFavorite Christmas book - all kinds of them, but I re-read Johanna Lindsay's The Present every year and I love it.
Cookies...Christmas brownies! They're kind of like chocolate chip and they're kind of like a Blondie...but so much better than either!
Great quiz, Liz!
I love The Present! That cookie sounds delish, too. I love Straight No Chaser's version of 12 Days of Christmas.
DeleteGreat questions, Liz. Right now the song in my head is one we sang in church yesterday, "I am a child of God" which is not a Christmas song but had a powerful impact on me. My favorite Christmas album is Carole King's, A Holiday Carol. I love any Christmas themed book at the holidays. I just finished Robyn Carr's, My Kind of Christmas, in her Virgin River Series. Christmas cookie, traditional sugar cutout cookies decorated for Christmas. The house is decorated and the presents are bought, but not wrapped. Right now Amazon is my best friend for last minute things. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteOh, Carolyn, you are SO organized! I changed churches this year and am hearing some new music. Although I miss what I was used to, the new experience is beautiful!
DeleteThis is a terrific post, Liz, to get people into the Christmas spirit!
ReplyDeleteI love traditional Christmas songs. There are so many I truly enjoy, that I can't pick just one!
My reading at Christmas is no different than any time during the year...emotionally and intellectually engaging books!
As for cookies, anything with chocolate or peanut butter in them always works for me. Shortbread is also a favorite of mine this time of the season.
Best wishes to everyone for the holiday season!
(No need to enter me for the giveaway.)
Thanks for coming by, Kate!
DeleteHi, Liz! I love Feliz Navidad and it's on my mind for days if I hear it once. Favorite cookie is Peanut Butter Blossoms with the chocolate kiss in the middle. I'm just too busy to read right now, but, like Shirley, Hallmark is on 24/7 as background while I'm trying to get ahead of the speeding calendar. Thanks for the shout out for A Carol Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI love blossums, too, and I put chocolate stars in the middle so I don't have to unwrap all that foil! :-)
DeleteBut, isn't unwrapping the kisses the excuse to put every fourth one in your mouth? Will have to try the stars.
DeleteI am getting in the spirit but like you, I haven't done much decorating.
ReplyDeleteI love Christmas songs so it's hard to pick a favorite! But the first two songs that I listen to on the day after Thanksgiving are Blue Christmas by Elvis Presley and Santa Claus & his Old Lady by Cheech and Chong.
I have been reading Christmas romances since Thanksgiving. I have several favorites which I read every year so I have been doing a reread then reading a new story.
My favorite cookies are peanut butter. The one I make that people like are toll house with chocolate and peanut butter chips!
Happy Holidays!
I love Blue Christmas, too--makes me think of Elvis in his younger days. What a loss that was. Merry Christmas!
DeleteThanks for getting us into the Christmas spirit, Liz. My favorite Christmas carol is O Holy Night, and has been for a long time. Favorite Christmas cookie? That's a tough one, but I'm going to go with Rum Balls. And honestly I don't think I have a favorite Christmas book that I reread every Christmas. I'm going to search through the answers here to find one!
ReplyDeleteHi, Jana. I love O Holy Night, too. Actually, most of the standards are my favorites. Cookies, too. :-)
DeleteHi Liz, I know I'm really late joining the fun. My favorite Christmas carol is also Mary Did You Know. My December reading is whatever I can get my hands on when I finally get a few moments to myself. And chocolate chip cookies are always my favorite. :)
ReplyDeleteHi, LeAnne. Yeah, I've noticed that chocolate chip are never among the three cookies left on the plate after the grandkids make their sweep. :-)
DeleteFave Song: O Holy Night (religious); I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas (whimsical); Walking 'Round In Women's Underwear (naughty); All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth (kids); Here Comes Santa Clause (classic).
ReplyDeleteDecember Reading: Not much, since we've just moved into the new house and are still getting things arranged. I DID read my TV Guide!
Fave Cookie: M&M or Rice Krispies.
Good choices on the cookies! Hope you're settling in. It is exciting moving into a new house, especially if it's your own!
DeleteFavorties,
ReplyDeleteSong: Boney M's version of Mary's Boy Child
Book: I love the Christmas romances, especially The Magic Stocking ;)
Cookie: PB Blossoms, mostly because I only make them at Christmas. My secret is to underbake them a little so they stay soft for the duration of their stay, and squish down the kiss when it's melted a bit so the chocolate spreads a little and you get some in every bite.
Oh, yum...and thanks for the shoutout!
