My Reading Challenge

by Margie Senechal

Since Kristi checked in yesterday on her two reading challenges and I'm also doing the same challenges, I thought I'd check in, too. Which might also be interpreted as I didn't have anything else planned.

I thought I'd read more than I actually have. *Sad face* I told Kristi I was somewhere between her ten and Liz's 19. I'm closer to her than Liz at just starting my 12th book.

I thought I'd be further into my fifty after the great start I had in January and February. Looking back at my list, I realized I did well those two months because I binged through three trilogies. Mmmm, maybe I need to find a new series that I can't put down.

My daughter and I both joined book crate clubs and I must admit, I really enjoyed the two books I got from mine, Once Upon a Book Club. I'm less impressed with the "gifts" that come with the books to enhance the experience of reading the book. But, both books that I might not have been on my radar without the club. I have another one waiting to be read and again, it looks really good and I wouldn't have found it on my own.

KB feels the same way about her Owl Crate books in that the books she's gotten have been good reads and books she wouldn't necessarily have found on her own.

I have a couple of books coming up on my docket and hopefully, I'll get back on the reading track. One of the books was from my book club, Say Goodbye For Now by Catherine Ryan Hyde. As it takes place over a period of time, I think it will fit into Roni Loren's monthly challenge them of "Time".

I got Amy E. Reichert's Luck, Love, and Lemon Pie on sale for my Kindle yesterday. I really enjoyed the last book I read by her, The Coincidence of Coconut Cake. So, I'm excited to begin this one.

And then I bought a MG at B/N the other day. I picked it up for it's title and got sucked in. Kristi, you might want to check this out for Bebe. Wishing Day by Lauren Myracle.

So, that's where I am. Twelve down and 38 to go to reach the yearly goal of 50. When I put it that way, it doesn't sound so bad...

  1. I'm checking in at 18 books so far...I stopped including the ones I'm reading for editing gigs though--it didn't seem fair to add work reads to a pleasure reading list.

    1. Let me know what she thinks if she reads it. So far, I'm enjoying it. If I'm going to redo Bix somewhere down the road in MG, I thought I should read some and get a feel for the tone :)

  3. I think we're all in the same ballpark. :-) I will have a three-book week and then it will take me two weeks to finish one. It's weird but also interesting to try to pick out a pattern.

    1. That is exactly me problem, I've started a dozen in between, but none have quite captured me enough to finish them.

  4. I feel like a slacker because I'm way behind you guys in my reading. I don't have my list in front of me so I can't remember exactly how many books I've read, but I did finish two books this week, one an audiobook that I listened to on the 6 hour drive (one way) to my writing retreat. I've got to get busy with my reading!
