Update on my Unemployment. The bad news: I haven’t found a
job. Of course, I’m not really
looking, which might be part of the problem. The
good news: I’ve decided that, in lieu of a job search, I’m just going to win
the lottery. That’s a feasible option, right?
On the home front, my jobless status has allowed me the time
for the numerous trips to the service department. Apparently, my new-to-me car
had been in an unreported accident and no one wanted to touch it with a
ten-foot pole. Fortunately, the dealer worked with us and I’m now in a new
new-to-me-car that I love even more! It has lots of awesome bells and whistles
that I never thought I’d need but am finding I can no longer live without. Technology,
you are an addictive drug!
Also on the home front, I’ve cleaned two—yes, count them:
TWO—dusty shelves. I’ve hung five pictures. Decluttered one corner. And
seriously contemplated sewing a bay window pad for the kitties… if I could sew.
Yep, I’m well on my way to domestic bliss, provided I keep the freezer stocked
with frozen pizzas for the kiddos to survive on.
On the writing front, I’ve critiqued several stories, judged
for two writing competitions, and started (then forgot to continue) semi-weekly
blogs on my Ava Cuvay website. And I
ordered cool new swag, with I plan to take to the RWA National Conference. Disneyworld
in July could be a tad toasty, and I will have cool goodies to share!
But the best part of my unemployment—aside from realizing
that I could really get used to not working—is that I’m writing again! I wrote
over 12,000 words on book number three last month! Granted, all the above kept
me from writing more, but it feels so good to be writing again. Like coming
home. It doesn’t flow from my fingertips
like I wish it would… I’m going for a bit of suspense with this one and that
fact is intimidating me a bit. But I’m so happy to be back at it again. There
was a time (like about six
months) that I wondered if I was going to be washed
up at two books. I might still be… but I have a bit of a lifeline right now
keeping me going. I’m excited for how this story is going to develop. I’m
looking forward to the evolution of the romance between my heroine and hero. I can’t
wait to see if I can thrill my betas.
Life is good right now!
I'm glad you're having such a good time--and good on you for the words. I'm glad they're flowing.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Me too!
ReplyDeleteWonderful on the writing. Keep the words flowing and keep taking the projects off your "to do" list. A new job will be there when you are ready.
ReplyDeleteThanks! How's your search going?
DeleteNice! You could get used to this life, baby, and Carolyn is so right. A job will come along when you and the universe decide it's time. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYep, I'm liking this gig! ;-)
DeleteFollow your bliss, baby! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're finding your bliss with writing again, Ava. Just keep at it and the words will start to flow, though at 12,000 words it sounds like they already are!
