Did a little needlepoint and embroidery in my twenties, but don't think that really counts.

It's nice how you've made quilts to take to the hospital and done so much to bring happiness to others with your sewing. Some of the seamstresses in our community make prayer quilts. They're just regular quilts, but they have pieces of embroidery thread sewn through all over, left loose so each thread can be tied into a knot. The knots represent prayers people have said as they tie the knots. Some ladies at our church recently made one for my dh. They hung it over an easel and everyone came up and tied knots and prayed while music played at the end of our church service. It was very moving and meant so much to our family. The quilt continues to be a reminder of their prayers, bringing physical warmth and a whole lot more. I really appreciate those sweet ladies. What a thoughtful, compassionate gesture!Terrinoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-133132309124375119.post-36646030022997116772010-04-19T10:48:41.792-04:002010-04-19T10:48:41.792-04:00Have you considered knitting/crocheting? Plus, you can even do them while watching TV, and not being tied down to a machine. But mostly, good for you for chasing your passion!Christi Barthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16623086161712323128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-133132309124375119.post-90411195722406093942010-04-17T17:15:54.024-04:002010-04-17T17:15:54.024-04:00I love to sew, Liz, but I'm not that great at ...I love to sew, Liz, but I'm not that great at it. My mom made me take private lessons, but nothing helped. lol...I tried machine quilting (nope) a quilt-in-a-day (nada) and was finally reduced to a wall hanging (still in my mom's hallway)...i recently made curtains for one of the bedrooms upstairs, using nothing but scissors and iron-on hemming tape.

=)carriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06858496364738946955noreply@blogger.com
