So yesterday D'Ann was talking about the end of summer, writing plans and challenges. Oh, my! Well, I love a good challenge. For me, a challenge is as good as a deadline...another thing I love. I blame my days as a roving reporter. If my stories weren't in by about 4:30 -- including editing time! -- they didn't hit the nightly news. So working on deadline is fun. Scary and nerve-wracking at times, but very much fun.
So, I've decided to challenge myself - and D'Ann and Margie and anyone else who wants to join in. I say the deadline is November 1, just because in my opinion, fall ends in November and winter begins -- along with the mad rush of the holidays. So Wednesday, August 18: Challenge Begins. Monday, November 1: Challenge Ends.
What am I challenging myself to do? Write, everyday. Write, write, write. But more than that. I have a manuscript in the midst of revisions. I want the revisions done. I have a second manuscript that is about 10,000 words from The End. I want that done. I want to query the in-revisions ms and I want to finish edits/revisions on the almost-finished ms, so I can start querying it. Oh! And I have two other WIPs calling me...neither has been officially started, just notes on napkins and papers stuck in folders. So I want to flesh out these ideas to see if anything is there. And, if so, start on a new project...By November 1 would like to have 15-20,000 words on paper for the new WIP.
Wow, I'm a little scared by my challenge...maybe I should delete a thing or three up there. Nah, what's a challenge if it doesn't make you sweat, right? Okay, who's with me for a fall challenge? What do you want to accomplish?

My challenge is to get revisions done on my current WIP and get querying on it, then get my Master's Degree capstone paper partially drafted. Ugh. No more fiction for this lil' vamp-lover until I'm done with that.
ReplyDeleteGood challenge goals, Tory!! Good luck ... especially with that Master's paper.
ReplyDeleteMy challenge is to get revisions done on WIP and send it out the door. And then work on new WIP and one other.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have the 3 chapters of my hq done by then and out the door. bang. or else.
ReplyDelete=)
Yay, Elisabeth and Carrie...great goals!!!
ReplyDeleteI will have Bix finished, edited, and out the door by Nov. 1. And I will decide on my next wip, Bix Two? Cam and Capt'n Jack? Winds of Time?
ReplyDeleteI am going to commit to at least Cat in time for the GH. Going to try to finish Sunny, too.
