I'm a steady writer. I can write at almost anytime and anywhere as long as I have a pen and paper. Or a computer. I rarely have problems getting into character or suffer from writer's block. But being a steady writer, I also rarely hit a zone.
Last night I got in a zone. I'd been making notes on my current chapter while watching Memphis Beat with DH and DD, but hadn't really committed to it. I was on my way to bed when I thought, "I'll just write this one paragraph." That paragraph led to well, the zone. I was writing as quickly as I could get it down on paper. I wrote like a madwoman.
I have to say I'm a little envious to those of you that this happens on a regular basis. Most of the time I enjoy the steadiness of my writing. It's comforting to know that when I'm ready to write, it will come.
But wow, that rush that comes from the zone. It's pretty freaking fun.

I LOVE it when the zone hits! Glad it hit you, Margie...
ReplyDeleteCool!
ReplyDeletegood for you! the zone is one of my favorite places to be, unless it hits at 2am. ugh. =)
ReplyDeleteWhat's the zone?
ReplyDeleteI can't say I ever get into a zone. Deadlines work really well for me. Making sure a blog post is up is enough to get me going. I'm thinking of doing all the blog posts on Sunday then all I have to do is hit a button once a day. Thanks for sharing your writing experience.
