Have You Told Someone...

You're thankful for them? It's something we don't do enough of, in my opinion, so we instituted a family tradition a couple of Thanksgiving's ago. We go around the table, pick one person and tell they why we are thankful for them/why we appreciate them. It was a little weird the first year, the second was better and we've got it down pat now. It's my favorite part of Thanksgiving. And I know we're not at the table, but here are some things (and people, too) that I'm thankful for this year.
The DH - who still loves me after 10 years of marriage and general nuttiness...who encourages me when I'm down, holds my hand over rejections and celebrates the good stuff. I love you.
My CPs - you know who you are. You make me a better writer by pointing out weaknesses and strengths in my writing. I wouldn't have a chance without you guys - you're worth your weight in gold...
This Country - where people are encouraged to strike out on their own and live their dreams. I've been freelancing successfully for 18 months now, and it's better than I ever imagined. Underneath an American sky anything can happen!
Family and Friends - I hope all of you are as blessed as I am with friends and family who run to your side when you need a hand up.
What are you thankful for?

  1. I'm thankful for the people I work with. My work life is winding down, and there are a few people there who've been there the whole 30 years I have. It'll be hard to leave them! Also for my family, just because...they're my family.
Writing is so lonely that I'm grateful for writing friends, too.

    Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

  3. Love your tradition, K.
Wish I had a family like that, instead of a bunch of nuts.
