My Favorite Author (& Hopefully Yours, Too!)

Our theme this week is our favorite author...which immediately stumped me. I'm an extremely decisive person - can make a major, life changing decision like moving across country in five minutes or less. But I've never been able to choose a favorite food. Why limit yourself? Today I might crave sushi more than anything, and tomorrow it might be pasta or enchiladas. Choosing a favorite felt like closing the door on every other possibility. I refuse to do it.

The same applies to authors. By choosing a favorite, I'd have to compare apples to oranges (although incidentally, I do prefer apples!). I'll go with romance as my favorite genre, but that is about it. Do I read every single Nora Roberts book - and in fact, have the 4th in her bride quartet being delivered today? Of course. But am I equally excited for the finale of Jayne Ann Krentz's Dreamlight Trilogy and Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate and Christie Ridgway's Three Kisses Trilogy? You bet. But what I'm most excited about this week is a mystery - Stephen White's The Last Lie. I've read every one of his books, and count the days til the next comes out. I refuse to limit myself - or my reading mood - by choosing a favorite.

Except....I remembered that I haven't taken a moment to plug my latest release on this blog yet. Act Like We're In Love just came out on October 7. And after all the blood, sweat and tears that go into writing a book, I think I just figured out my favorite author of all time - me! Hopefully, once you read the blurb below and buy my book, you'll agree.....

When two people make beautiful music together onstage, can their love survive once the curtain falls? Linnea Larson is willing to do anything to keep her family's Minneapolis dinner theatre from under. Anything, that is besides accepting a date from the Hollywood hunk her father hired to inject a dose of star power into their production of Guys & Dolls. It's a toss up whether his greatest claim to fame is playing a superhero on screen, or a super stud off screen. Neither fact convinces her he's got what it takes to share her stage. And thanks to a lifelong pact with her best friend, she never dates actors.

Luke Powell has fame, fortune and an endless string of women, but also a lingering dissatisfaction with his picture perfect life. Looking for a change, he escapes to his theatrical roots. What he finds are wary cast mates, a nervous best friend convinced the show will ruin Luke's career, and an adorable costar who stubbornly refuses to go out with him. Suddenly singing and dancing aren't the only challenges he'll face over the summer. Far from the spotlights of Hollywood, can he find happiness in the footlights of a tiny theatre?

Despite Luke dragging her into his daily paparazzi nightmare, Linnea can't deny her mounting attraction to his irresistable charm. And even if she's crazy enough to chance getting involved, their fling would have a guaranteed expiration date. He's leaving at the end of the run, and she's tied to her family's theatre. Why risk the inevitable heartbreak? Their job is to act like they're in love, but will they decide it's worth the leap to fall in love for real?

  1. You're one of my favorite authors, too. But, you didn't say where we can get your book. I never got to read the end, so I'm kind of looking forward to it.

  3. Ah, but I did, at the bottom of the post - I'm too much of a promotion machine not to...go to my website for the purchase links. And I thank you in advance. According to the reviewers, the end is a little shocking. I didn't see it that way, but if it gets me good reviews, I'll go along w/it!
