To infinity and beyond

I love Buzz Lightyear--hence the title. And even though we're taking a look to the past, I find I want to look toward the horizon-

I also love this cartoon. I have it on my fridge and on my desktop--at least until something else stikes my fancy.

Oh, but since we're looking back on Word Wranglers today, I'll start there--

2011 was a pretty good year--if I go back further than the last month, which in my day-job life is always hell. Retail really sucks the holiday spirit right out of you.

But, I digress. Back to 2011.

I finished the first and second drafts of Bix!
I am thisclose to wrapping up the beta3 version right now.

I had a couple of agent nibbles and once I get Beta3 results in, I'll start querying again. I aim to make January my query month--stealing from Genn Albin --Januquery.

I had a couple of thrills--winning Auntie B's contest where I was judged by actual teen-aged readers and found worthy. Writeoncon.com's amazing online conference. That was a time-consuming blast. Finding a new beta partner and meeting other teen writers was the icing.

I'm sure there were other notable moments, but I want to look to the future. I will finish a submittable version of Bix and hopefully, gain representation. And while that's out, I'm toying with a rom-com idea for a YA loosely based on When Harry Met Sally. We'll see if that pans out but I'm having fun right now.

And isn't that what it's all about? For me, it is. Writing is my release, my entertainment, and my therapy--all rolled up in one.

Let's get rolling in the new year, because according to the Mayans, we only have eleven months left to go. Better make the most of it :)

  3. When Harry met Sally is one of my favorite movies. As a matter of fact, I popped it in the DVD player yesterday. That cartoon had me dying laughing. Good luck with Bix!

  5. Shawn--When Harry Met Sally is one of my must-watches during the holiday season and I quote it all the time.

An agent I follow on twitter really wants YA rom-coms, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Can't hurt.

And I'm actually plotting this one. Christi would be so proud.
