The Power of Forgiveness

This week we're talking about the books of our heart. I read a book by Sherrilyn Kenyon called "Kiss of the Night." The book got some good reviews, but a lot of people didn't like it as much as her other books. I wasn't one of those people. The book made me laugh, cry, and at the end, I got my sigh moment. I never read an author that could make me go through all those emotions with one story. It motivated me to write a story that could take a reader there.

I thought Dreamers would be the story of my heart. While I was writing it, I suppose it was. Boy, was I surprised when my current wip "Life After" took its place. This story is more than just a paranormal romance. It's also a lesson in forgiveness. My heroine has to forgive and ask to be forgiven a host of issues. Issues that were caused by the one thing she can no longer relate to. Being human. Yes, we all have done things we have to say "I'm sorry" for. And when we say it, we have to mean it.

Life After is going through its first round of revisions now. The emotion is being layered in, and there are moments when my own emotions get in the way. I think that's a good sign. I only hope my editor will love it as much as I do.

The book of my heart? The one that makes me think. What's makes a book dear to you?

  1. I have two stories I love, but have had a hard time selling. One is funny, red-neck murder mystery and the other is a tale written from the viewpoint of a rejected male, but everyone likes it until they get to the end and finds out the male is a dog. He's ignored because the owner has a new boyfriend. It's not kinky, but usually the reader is angry that they've been fooled.

  2. I like when forgiveness is part of a story, whether it's a person forgiving herself or someone else. It seems to put some of the ducks right into a row. It's one of my favorite parts of "Life After," Shawn.

  4. I love forgiveness themes - the current WIP has a forgiveness thread through it, primarily the heroine forgiving herself...

And like Liz the forgiveness aspect of LA is one of my favorite parts.
