Rage Against the Lists

I don't write lists. Mainly because I don't like setting myself up for failure. I have this weird instinct to rebel against anything that sucks the spontaneity out of my life. I guess that explains why hubby does the grocery shopping.

As for my writing, I had a list of secondary characters on a post-it, then lost it. I had to go to my website to get their names. Hey, there are twelve Legacy members in Dreamers and twelve oracles in Life After. I think I'm a little obsessed with the number 12. No way was I going to be able to commit all their names to memory. Especially since the oracles have such weird names. All the Legacy members were named after flowers that began with the first letter of the country they represented. Like Rose from Russia, Jasmine from Jamaica, Daisy from Denmark etc. I have no idea where that list is now.

So, here's my idea of a list. A calendar with things I'm supposed to be doing that day. It's posted on a bulletin board in my office and I usually forget to look at it. I just realized I still have it turned to February. Several alarms on my phone that let me know when it's time to blog, get up, I even have one that alerts me when it's time to go to bed. I'm a night owl and sometimes I get carried away. Bouts of insomnia are at fault here too. Of course the alarms go unnoticed if I've left my phone upstairs and I'm downstairs.

I'm convinced. I have a mental block against lists.

  3. I think I'll have to accept that no list prize, Liz. @Kristi, the calendar would work great if I could remember to look at it.
