Doing It!

Yesterday, I went to a whole bunch of parties . . . and I lost my virginity.

Yesterday, Crimson Romance launched, and a lot of authors had virtual parties.  I tried to make them all.  I drank a lot of champagne.  It was great fun!

The virginity part?

Oh, that.

Yes, ahem.  I did it.  For the first time.

OK, not like that!

Oh, you thought....?  Nah, that was years ago.  So long ago I barely remember it.  This was much more fun

I became a published author yesterday.  It was the first time.

Without being any more graphic than I have, here are the similarities...

There wasn't any pain.  Well, maybe a little bit in the morning when I realized this was it.  The day I was going to do it.  I kind of freaked out a little.  But my friends over at Critters carried me through.  Thanks, gang.  You're the best.

People did see me naked.  Vulnerable.  There's something about putting yourself out there for the world to see that's a little bit (OK, a hell of a lot) intimidating.  It's kind of like taking off your clothes and letting everyone see you, flaws and all.  And the lights were on.

I had a great partner.  Crimson is a fantastic publisher.  They have held my hand through every step of this process.  Jennifer Lawler, my editor, is amazingly patient and understanding.  I couldn't have found a better publisher to do it with for the first time.

The best part?  I'm happy today.  I can't stop grinning.  I have no morning after regrets.  It's honeymoon time now.  Nothing but good.  Yep, losing my published author virginity yesterday was awesome!

  18. Never realized all the parallels...but you nailed it. Yesterday I did feel naked, had a great partner, no pain...exhausted but smiling today (think Scarlet O'Hara the morning after Rhett Butler carried her up that staircase...wink, wink, nudge, nudge)
