Hi, all!
Back by popular demand...Two-fer Tuesday! From your book, WIP or two lines you just came up with, I'd like a peek at your hero... Mine is from Wild Horses...in Jake's POV.
He wasn't lying in a pool of his own blood, just undressed and in a warm, soft bed. A quilt lay under him, and he absently stroked the worn material.

Oh good one.. let me get one from my release in August...Lips pressed firm together, Travis knew he needed to put it behind him. He needed to rejoin the rodeo or go back home in defeat.
ReplyDeleteFrom Eight Seconds to Glory coming in August to Crimson Romance
This is fun - 2 sentences -
ReplyDeleteDropping his sword, he pulled her face to his and rested his forehead on hers. "I said I would return and I—"
From my latest - Black Dorn
Cliff hanger!!!!
DeleteHere's a couple lines from Stubborn Hearts, due to release in August. The "he" is the heroine's six-year-old brother, Davy.
ReplyDeleteHe was likely at the smithy again, despite her stern orders not to spend so much time there. She feared Tom Carver would press her brother about their past, and though Davy knew the gravity of their secret, he still might accidently let some critical information slip.
Love that! It's tense, but you add that bit of comfort with the quilt at the end. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteGeez, this is a tough one. From The Sky Pirate's Wife:
Hard as marble on the outside, unflinching and steadfast. Van Buren looked into the face of death the way he did in Sikes' novels, with a cool, unconcerned attitude.
Nice!
DeleteExcellent - wow!
DeleteThese are god-awful long sentences!
ReplyDeleteSteven realized, with the sound of Carol’s laughter still whispering through his senses, that for the first time since Promise’s death, he wanted to be with someone for something besides sex—although that wasn’t out of the question, either. He wanted a relationship that was neither family nor best friend nor professional, and he wanted it to grow slow and easy and long-lasting.
Oh, from my WIP, THE BEST SUMMER EVER.
DeleteD'Ann - Two Fer is such a great idea! I loved reading all of these!
ReplyDeleteI agree, D'Ann came up with a great idea here!
DeleteGreat lines, everyone! Here's mine, from Jackson in What a Texas Girl Wants:
ReplyDeleteAnother postcard-perfect day in Puerto Vallarta. Damn. Thirty was years too old to be waking up, hung-over, not knowing where he was or how he had gotten there.
This is a wonderful idea! So much fun. Very intriguing snippets, ladies. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHere is mine from Soul Seducer, currently available through Crimson Romance: (My hero's dialogue, referring to the villain)
“I only take souls when it’s their time. Gaylen is bent on destruction, on evil.”
Such a great idea, D'Ann! These have been wonderful! Here's my Duncan, from Only Scandal Will Do, being described by Katarina, the heroine:
ReplyDeleteHe was a tall young man, and his toned, hardened muscles showed clearly through his disheveled garments. His skin, tinged with a ruddy glow from their exertions, carried a bronzed hue, attesting to a life lived often outdoors.
"Come with me. And your desires will be fulfilled."
ReplyDeleteA snip of Alec Westwood's narrated dialogue from my latest release, Dangerous Proposal.

Great idea, D'Ann! :) Here's mine from my WIP.
ReplyDeleteIn this one fierce kiss, he asked for her simple acceptance. Her acceptance of him as a man - not the monster others saw on the outside, not the laird who led his people, not the head of a family that protected his own, and not the arranged groom she would be forced to marry.
These are all sooo good. Here is mine from The Seduction of Lady Phoebe. The first sentence is said by my Hero's father:
ReplyDelete“You need to call on Weston and Hoby before the Little Season begins. One of your first jobs will be finding a wife.”
Marcus nodded and cast a sidelong glance at his ship, Lady Phoebe.
I love this idea! Here is mine from Love of Her Lives to be released August 6th.
ReplyDeleteHis smile enchanted, like he kept a secret just behind it she might like to know. He was enchanting all right, subtle enough not to be overdone, but she saw through that tactic.
i loved the ones above. this is my werewolf hero from "love at first sniff" available now:
ReplyDeleteAs he stretched into his downward dog position – ironically he’d discovered it was the most comfortable position to transition in – Lucas grumbled to himself about his neighbor’s blaring music. Shouldn’t certain districts be zoned as Manilow-free?
D'Ann, your are brilliant!
ReplyDeleteAll the sneak peeks are so good.
Loved all the snippets...
ReplyDeleteHere's mine from A HUNTER'S ANGEL (July 20 from The Wild Rose Press)
Twenty minutes had passed, all the time he needed to dedicate to the death sleep, but today he wished he’d never woken up. Grace would be safer that way, and he’d be dead as nature intended.
Thank you, all, for coming by! These are FAB!
ReplyDeleteNot exactly still Tues but here you go:
ReplyDeleteThis is from my Brand New one. (hee hee)
Tall and lean with dark hair slicked back, the man exuded a territorial confidence that would make any champion cower. His chiseled face and dark eyes swam with unfathomable depth.
