These are a few of my favorite things...

The Wranglers are talking about favorites this week. I’ve been thinking about it ever since Margie gave us the prompt, and I have—overnight, mind you—become Julie Andrews, breaking into “Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens…” at the drop of a…of a butterfly’s wing, butterflies being near the top of my list of favorites. Speaking of lists—we’ve been doing a lot of them, and we’re leaving for Vermont as soon as I get my church clothes off (I’m writing this a day early), so a list of some of my favorites is easy. Then I want to know yours, okay?

1.   Writer. Hundreds of them, but probably Kathleen Gilles Seidel.

2.   Thing to wear. Sweats. Oh, God, I’ve admitted it. Now I’ll probably have to start going to Sweats Anonymous meetings.

3.   Time of day. Mornings, all of them. Days may go to hell in a hand basket and often do, but mornings are all good.

4.   Christmas decoration. Right now I’m loving snowmen. There are so many different ones!

5.   Flavor of ice cream. Butter pecan, but I’ll eat any of them. Any time. Sigh.

Okay, your turn.

  2. happy vacation, Liz! Vermont sounds WONDERFUL!! Since I have to have my own post about favorites, I'll just share one: the smell of a brand new, physical book. *sigh*

PS: I *still* have a Christmas decoration out - it's a snowman on block-letters which reads Just Believe.. appropriate, I've decided, for all year long!

  4. Okay, I'll bite. Favorite clothing: Capri's--the only pants I don't have to hem. I wear them year around--course it doesn't get that cold up here and rain is rain.

    Favorite Christmas decoration: elves--imagine that.

Icecream: Lately it's been Ben and Jerry's Americone Dream. Yay Colbert.

Time of day: I have to go with morning--especially early morning and I like your reasoning--it's a new day, anything can happen before it all goes to hell :)

And ahh, Vermont. Have fun. That's one of those places I've always wanted to visit--especially after Newhart.

    1. Yeah, and it's just like that, too! It's the only state I'm in that I think needs to be the USA's official postcard!

  5. Writer: Too many! Lani Diane Rich, Jennifer Cruisie, E.M. Forster, Gene Stratton Porter, Stephen King, Liz Flaherty...the list is endless and I love discovering new authors.

Clothing: right now, sundresses, but otherwise, yoga pants/capris/shorts and tank tops and hoodies. My uniform for work!

Ice Cream: Either, Kroger's Raspberry Dark chocolate or B&J's Everything But... really tasty! I like my ice cream with chunks of stuff in it.

Time of day: Late at night, when my house is asleep and I can write. Also, dusk at the lake--so gorgeous!

Christmas decoration: Fresh balsam--either trees or wreaths. It's all about the nose, baby!

I'm so jealous, Liz! I want to go to Vermont! Enjoy! Enjoy!

  6. I was thinking this morning of a favorite thing: teenagers sleeping in. You know where they are and the aren't mouthing off. I also love when they are awake and relating to one another as friends !

Clearly, I'm no Julie Andrews/ Maria Von Trapp

  7. Have a good time on your vaction liz! As for favorites, too many books to name. Favorite thing to wear: This is going to sound strange, but I'm attatched to a pair of my husbands old boxers with Homer Simpson on the front. They're comfy. I have some wooden ornamanets and teddy bear ornaments that I've had forever. Favorite time of day? Five o'clock. Quitting time at the day job. Favorite flavor of ice cream: Baskin Robbins pralines and cream.
