A Bleeding Heart

Liz Flaherty's post yesterday said perfectly what I wanted to. No need to repeat it. Please go there and see what she said.

These are bleeding hearts from my garden. I wish they bloomed here all year long, but they froze about two months ago.

They sum up how I feel--a bleeding heart. All I can do is pray for the people in Newtown, CT. That's all most of us can do. And hope it somehow reaches them, and gives the tiniest comfort.

  1. I think so many of us not only feel sadness and compassion for the families involved but shock that something like this could happen to so many innocent children. I'm with you, prayer is a great source of comfort for us all.

  2. I'm still a lot numb because of what happened. I didn't know anyone personally and yet I feel...lost, a little bit. Prayer is definitely a source of comfort, so I'll add my prayers to yours...

  3. I think we are shocked and numb or so in pain we can't function, and I'm glad we are. God help us if we ever reach the point where we become so inured to hate or violence that something like this doesn't stop us in our tracks.

  4. I agree...My heart bleeds for those people and the families. My God rest their souls.

  5. I think I don't want to take it in, don't want to believe I live in a world where this can happen, though atrocities happen all the time. But that's somewhere else, this is home. I cannot imagine what the families are going through. But I pray for them to have the strength to try to get through. Yes, bleeding hearts are the perfect expression of this sorrow.
