I am an impulsive buyer. Not always but there are some things I just can't pass up.
They usually defy logic or sense.
Sharpie pens are one of those things. I didn't really get into Sharpies until they started coming out in new and fun colors. And now I can't pass up a new color. It's not like I'm even going to use it, I simply want it to be available just in case I ever need a yellow or pink sharpie.
Pens are another obsession. I was looking for a picture in my secretary and found another stash. I have two flower pots on my desk stuffed with a myriad of pens, along with a pen pouch, my purse, my writing bag, and a vase in the kitchen. The sad thing is that I'm always on the lookout for another one. Pink and purple are my colors of choice.
Lego minifigs are another item I rarely pass up--especially when a new set comes out. I read that series ten is just around the corner and they have an exclusive Mr. Gold--see him in the back right corner, looks a lot like a golden Mr. Monopoly--does he have a name???
My last--okay for the purposes of the blog, because I want to get it posted sometime today--must-buy- now are books. New books, old books, ebooks--
I don't even read them all but I might want to someday. I have book stacks next to my bed, on top of the TV stand, on my desk, in my Kindle Fire...it's crazy.
Why the picture of Relic? Because if I don't have a copy at home, I'll buy it at Goodwill so I always have a copy to give away to someone who wants a good thriller. I can't just let it languish on a shelf when someone could be enjoying it.
Wait--I thought of one more. Plants. It's Spring and I can't resist a new flower. Maybe it's a sickness.
So--what are your can't quit objects?

Oh gosh. Pens (just bought one that lights up). Cups with comfortable handles. Fabric--I need to find a meeting about that particular little addiction. Snowmen. Did I mention pens? Good post, Margie. Baskets...small ones that don't take up a lotta room...
ReplyDeleteGood post, Margie. I am a pen addict. I have them in all styles and colors. Then when I find one I like I will but a whole box. Fabric. I am on a two week project to clean out my craft room. Even so, I am still looking for fabric. Finally books, like you I buy books for my shelf and books for my Kindle. You never know when you have a few minutes that a book might fill.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Pens seem to be a familiar obsession. I've even been known to trade a waitress if I like their pen better than anything I have on me. Once I got this blue gel glitter pen that I LOVED and left a green pen in it's place. Then I was on the hunt to find more of the blue gel glitter pens--checking each store I went to. And I found it at Target. They had an entire box of them in a rainbow of colors and for less than five bucks--that's like .50 a pen!
ReplyDeleteThose pens have since ran dry and Target seems to have quit the line. Say it ain't so--but I still check every time I'm in Target just to see if it reappears.
Ditto, on the pens and Sharpies. I even bought a Sharpie pen the other day in Dollar General. LOL. And I impulse buy spiral bound notebooks, all sizes. I like the college ruled 5 in 1's, and if the cover is too utilitarian, I glue a magazine photo or a Christmas card that has glitter on the front. I can NOT pass one up any spiral bound notebook that has glitter, or foil, or velvet, or anything other thing that would make it the least bit "bling-y." I even have some that have embossed aluminum covers. I like spiral bound steno pads, too. They're a handy size to carry. If they came all blinged up, I'd have to build another room.
ReplyDeleteCheryl-every season we get a displayer of Sharpie pens--the singles without cardboard--and they usually go on sale 2/$1 but this week, 3/$1--like how can I pass that up.With my discount, it comes out to like, .25 a pen. So, I got a yellow, orange, and green in spring shades.
ReplyDeleteI always have a little notebook in my bag or purse. I got a little gnomey one for Christmas that I love.
See--something else I don't pass up. Gnomes. I'm thinking the list might be endless
No one who wants to keep a pretty pen should ever loan it to me. I love pens. I also have a strange addictions to hair accessories. I can't pass up pretty hair decorations! Even if I have no intention of wearing them.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, spiral-bound notebooks--I think that's one of the deadlies. A friend I worked with once stole a pen from a nun in the St. Vincent DePaul store--I laughed at her for 30 years over that, even though she didn't mean to do it!
ReplyDeleteShot glasses. I love collecting shot glasses, but pens and mechanical pencils are a close second and third.
ReplyDeleteI love pens, but couldn't say I was an addict. Flowers? I'm so in!!! Liz, my BFF Kim has a fabric addiction, too!
ReplyDeleteFor all you pen lovers out there--and there seem to be quite a few--the best place to get them is a college bookstore. They have open stock in little plastic containers. I found this out when my daughter went to OSU--it was a like a writer's dream--all the pens I found.
ReplyDeleteI'm lucky because we have a community college in town so when I get jonesing for a pen, I go there. And you can usually sample before buying and you can choose from a smorgasbord of colors and styles.
Carol--my daughter started collecting shot glasses so now I check them out whereever I go--not that I got a lot of places, but still---
ReplyDeleteD--Love flowers. Especially ones I haven't seen before--which is why I love our farmer's market--new bloom blood ;)
Great post! For me it's chap stick. It could be Burt's Bees, Blistex, Nuutrogina, I'll buy anything and everything to slather on my lips, but I always come back to my strawberry flavored chap stick.
ReplyDeleteJessi--that's hilarious. I always come back to strawberry Soft Lips. I have them everywhere--next to my bed, in my car console, my purse, my pocket during work hours--I am so afraid that I won't have one when I need it.
ReplyDeleteI have such a problem finding pens I like. The one thing I find hard to resist is luggage. I love a good suitcase. Tweeted.
