I'm so excited...and I just can't hide it

It’s Monday morning along about 8:00 as I write this. Normally, I post the blog on Sunday night. Apparently this week isn’t normal. So now you have to hear about it. You knew that was coming, didn’t you? Go ahead. Warm up your coffee. I’ll wait.
I started the week by getting home from Florida, where we spent two and a half months in a rental house. It was a lovely, fun time. I was almost completely non-productive, which shows you just how routine-entrenched I am. I’ve discovered it’s something about me that I’m okay with. This is a Good Thing. We all need to like things about ourselves. Even goofy things.
On Monday morning, I got an email from Wrangler Kristi with “LIZ!!!!” (yes, four exclamation points, I kid you not) in the subject line. She’d discovered that Carina Press had dubbed ONE MORE SUMMER one of its  Best of 2012. There was a whole lot of shrieking going on then, let me tell you. I was—and am—so excited!

Later this week, I got an email from my other publisher, Harbourlight Books  telling me they’d done a video for A SOFT PLACE TO FALL.  Oh, my gosh, more shrieking. I’ve never had a video before and I was—and am—so excited!
Last night, when I should have been working on this post, I was the “featured guest” at The Writer’s Chatroom. This was a new thing for me; usually I’m the attendee up in the balcony. And it was so much fun! I was…yeah, excited.
It was a week of seeing kids and grandkids and getting the cats home. Of going back to my own church and my own grocery store and being where everybody waves at everybody else and five cars in an hour’s time is an unreasonable amount of traffic.
This morning, tea in hand, I stepped onto the back porch to come out to the office. Then went back inside for my boots. Here’s the view from the office window here in North Central Nowhere on the fifth day of spring.
Really? I mean, really?
Yeah, I’m still excited. Have a great week!

  1. Bahaha, Liz! We've got the snow up here, too. And, as annoyed as I was at the weatherman last night, today as I'm curled up with bebe for a snow day, I'm excited.

So happy for all your news - what a fun week you've had!

  5. Thanks, Christine. I love it, too. I also love that there's always something in the writing world to be excited about.

  6. ROFL! I wondered how you were going to react to winter's 'last gasp'! Congrats on all of the good news! Did you see the article where the police 'indicted Phil'? Funny, we never seem to complain when he sees his shadow and the warm temps arrive and stick around this time of year.

  7. Liz, congrats on all the good news. I'm not surprised about One More Summer. It is one of my favorite books. The trailer was great also. I can't wait to read A Soft Place to Fall. Welcome back to Spring in Indiana.

  8. What a great week, Liz! I've never had a trailer either, so I can only imagine how much fun that is. I've had a rip-roaring week, too, although none of it writing-related. I bought a new car (red Fiat 500!) and got the plans for the big remodel on our new house. It's nice to know we can still have so much excitement at our age! LOL

  10. @Molly. I don't mind it as much as my husband does. He's spent the morning with the snowblower!

@Thanks, Carolyn. I hope you like the new book, too.

@You're in such an exciting place, Alison. I hope you love every minute!

    @It's been a fun week, D.

  11. I'm not happy about this weather at all. We didn't get as much snow as they predicted, but I'm supposed to drive to Indy for three days this week. Still hoping that gets cancelled. Congrats on all of you great news though.

  12. @Thanks, Carol. I THINK it's melting here--for the moment anyway. Be careful driving if you have to go!

  13. Congrats Liz. Love the trailer! Georgia weather is so confusing. One day it's 70 degrees, at the next, it's 40. Today is a cold day. I'll be glad when the warm weather is here to stay.

  14. Me, too, Shawn, though I think snow's gawgus!

  15. LOL, Liz. Congrats on the good stuff. I have to say, I think they, whoever they is, start Spring too early.

  17. @Ella. I agree--I think the calendar's all screwed up. Thanks for the congrats!

@Jessi, thank you on both counts.
