I'm sitting on the couch watching When Harry Met Sally. What is it about this movie that makes me sit up and watch it whenever it comes on? I also have it on DVD. I think I've seen this movie at least 30 times (that's not an exaggeration) and I still notice something new every time.
I think what I like most is the fact that the characters knew each other for so long. I like seeing their relationship evolve. They "meet" each other at pivotal moments in their lives. And learn from each other. I love the character of Harry. Sarcastic, with a skewered view of love and women. But he's hilarious. And some of his twisted thinking actually makes sense.
I couldn't help but like Sally. She was a romantic. Kind of looked at the world with rose colored glasses. Even when things bothered her, she pretended like it was no big deal. Harry loosened her up.
And who could forget the fake orgasm scene in the restaurant?
I guess some things are timeless. What about you? Seen any good movies lately? Old or new?

I watched SHALL WE DANCE a couple of weeks ago. It's one of my favorite sigh-ers. When Richard Gere carries that rose into the store and gives it to Susan Sarandon, I still melt.
ReplyDeleteI love that movie! For me, the movie that always sucks me in is The Princess Bride. I own the movie (2 versions - regular and 25th anniversay) and the book...and yet I see it on cable and can't not watch. lol
ReplyDeleteThe movie that gets me is Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I own the dvd but I watch it everytime it comes on tv.
ReplyDeleteWhen Harry Met Sally is one of my all-time faves and I found the end on last night and stayed up to watch it. LOL. I think I've seen it over 50 times.
ReplyDeleteI'm also a sucker for anything Hugh Grant or football. Quite the difference but if I catch Remember the Titans or The Replacements on something, I can't turn them off.
