A little bit of this, a little bit of that...

I don't know what to write. I have no idea. So, you know what that means?

Hodge-Podge!

Last night, my girls and I went to an early premiere of Mockingjay, the third movie in the Hunger Games series.

It was my first time sitting in Cinetopia's Parlor Room. And it was super comfy. We were part of a special event screening put together by a friend of KB's.

I devoured the Hunger Games books and look forward to each movie with great anticipation and they have yet to let me down.

When we got home, KB, Mike, and I watched The 100. So, it was bit of a dystopian theme last night.

I love Dystopian, especially when it's done right.

My house still has Halloween up. Mostly Peanuts and a little graveyard. I figure I'll get it down next week when I put up my Christmas decor.

Christmas--can you believe that it's only weeks away?? Craziness!

I had my first Saturday off this last weekend and was finally able to go to a craft bazaar--or four. I found a pair of mistletoe earrings that I bought. Not so much because I plan to wear them, but because of that mistletoe book I'm pining to write. It's something I do--collect things that reminds me of my books.

I think it's unfair that The Voice has a save feature this year but being on the West Coast, we have no chance to get our vote in to count. I especially think this will be unfair if the Portland boy, Taylor John Williams, ends up in the bottom three. Because we won't get the chance to save him. Just saying...

And lastly, I want to give a shout out to our own Liz Flaherty. I finally got around to reading Back to McGuffey's. I can't say enough about this book--I loved it! She writes characters I want to be friends with. And isn't that the best kind of book to read? If you haven't taken the time to read it--the weekend's just around the corner. Indulge in a great book.

  1. Margie, I so get the need to do a stream-of-consciousness post now and again. I love these because we get to know you better and that's always a treat! I haven't read any of the Hunger Games stuff--I have a really hard time with Dystopian worlds. I guess I prefer the past to the imagined future, although I can say that there have been a few Dystopian themes I've seen or read that were kinda fascinating.

And yes, I'm right with you about Back to McGuffey's--I am a huge Liz Flaherty and this was a wonderful story about second chances. Liz just draws you into these magical, small-town situations and suddenly, you want to be best friends with her characters. It's amazing!

    1. I was a dystopian fan before it even had a name. I think growing up in the seventies and the threat of a nuclear annihilation--did I mention my imagination?--I used to draw underground villages where we'd live if the bomb dropped. Never mind how we got there :)

  2. I'm gonna join in the Liz-love with you, Margie! I finished it just a week or so ago and I started missing the characters almost as soon as I turned that last page!

RadioMan and I just watched Catching Fire - loved it! I haven't read the books, but I think I will.

    1. We must've read it about the same time. LOL

And you should read the Hunger Games series. I think it's one of my favorite series--right up there with Harry Potter. I've read it like three or four times. I love it that much.

  3. I love you guys! Thanks for the shout-outs. And I love your "little o' this, little o' that" posts, Margie. My imagination isn't good enough for Dystopian anything, but I so admire the ability to create it.

    1. We love you too. Your book was so fun--totally lived up to the gorgeous cover :)

I tried my hand at Dystopian--and there is just so much you have to figure out. One day I may go back to my Journal Keeper, but for now I just live in other people's worlds.

  4. Here's another voice for Liz's book. As for Hunger Games, I'm a fan, too, and I'm hoping one of my g/daughters wants to see it this weekend. I'd hate to have to go alone :)

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Barbara! Oh, I hope they'll go with you. I think movies are a shared experience--especially after, when you want to talk about it.

In fact, I've come to the conclusion that I enjoy The Voice more when KB and I watch it together than when we watch it solo--because of work schedules--and talk about it later.

  5. Margie, I'm so with you on The Voice. Taylor is my favorite and I hate that we West Coasters can't save our favs from the bottom three. Also, do you ever get the feeling that Carson is really a robot?

Going to see Hunger Games III Friday and I'm nerdily excited. Glad to hear it didn't disappoint! Have you checked out Interstellar yet? Highly recommend. It's Sci-Fi meets dystopian.

    1. Stacy--I think it's so unfair--especially because it's filmed on the West Coast. Maybe we should penalize the East Coasters for a change. Make them stay up to vote. LOL

My daughter wants to find that doggie cafe in Portland Taylor works at and hang out there. LOL We'd never heard of it until the Voice and now we're like, "we should check that out." But we'd probably leave our dog at home. Which might defeat the purpose.

Yep-we saw Interstellar last Tuesday. I really enjoyed it as well. And loved the surprise cameos that popped up.
