"Order of Fear" Cover Reveal!

Lisa Caviness holds a special place in my heart because we’ve traveled the writing path at about the same time. She is the unobtrusive Yin to my boorish Yang, writes Romantic Suspense (it’s always the quiet ones, isn’t it?), and has her first novel coming out at the end of this month. So I’m beyond excited to get the honor of introducing her to all of you!

Lisa is a lifelong reader of an eclectic pool of books, from mystery/thrillers, science fiction, contemporary romance, and the classics. She is never without a book on the nightstand and a long to-be-read list! Like many writers, she started crafting stories as a child. As an adult, that creativity took a back seat to her career in pharmaceutical and medical device research. In 2013, Lisa decided to get serious about writing and joined several Romance Writers of America Chapters (Crossroads, Indiana RWA, Kiss of Death) and then later joined the Sisters in Crime Speed City Chapter. The writing and publishing education she has received proved invaluable, but (more importantly) the support from fellow writers has enriched her in thrilling and unexpected ways.

Her first book, “Order of Fear” will release April 30th, and she is both excited and terrified to send her book baby out into the world. We have exchanged those nervous soon-they-will-realize-we’re-frauds-who-don’t-know-what-we’re-doing sentiments. Those how-do-you-really-know-when-your-book-is-finished worries. Those what-if-no-one-likes-it heart-palpitations. Standing at the cusp of that abyss, about to take that final step into publishing, is a life-changing moment, and no matter how many writer friends are on the other side encouraging us and assuring us to “come on in, the water is fine,” it is still a heart-in-your-throat moment.

A heart-in-your-throat, sweaty-palm, heart-palpitating sort of fear that is not unlike what her heroine experiences in “Order of Fear.” Check it out!

ORDER OF FEAR
Murder
A senior account, ballet dancer, and future bride, Marissa Nash likes order, and she expects all the pieces of her life to add up. Her bottom line is skewed after she discovers her fiancé has been unfaithful. When Marissa walks in to the unexpected—David dead and her dog, Halo, agitated and restless, she finds her nightmare is only beginning.

Passion
David's unenthused best man and traumatized former Army doctor, Justin Tanner understands that a wedding means more than a toast and a kiss. His reluctance stems from feelings that run deeper than they should for the bride. But when he finds Marissa cradling his best friend's lifeless body, can he find a way to suppress his feelings as they uncover David’s secret world?

Evil
The seemingly pointless murder launches Marissa and Justin into a wicked web of lies, delusion and danger at the hands of a powerful and psychotic foe.

Murder, passion, evil—who will survive?

(See, like I said... it's always the quiet ones... :-)
Here's a little excerpt:
The sticky sensation of David’s blood coated Marissa’s hands. This wasn’t supposed to happen. She’d been ready to tell him she couldn’t marry him. Maybe they could have worked through their problems, or maybe they could have parted as friends, but now he was dead. Anger and preoccupation would no longer alienate them. The easy humor and quick laugh that had been absent in recent weeks would never return.

Surrounded by blood, she glanced at one wall of the kitchen. Her stomach roiled as she studied the brain matter splattered on the wall like abstract art. The wall had once been tan, but was now stained a ghastly shade of red.

Marissa blinked several times, hoping to erase the sick scene, but the reality remained. David was dead.

The last few weeks she’d been embroiled in romantic, tranquil colors. Soft peach hued roses. Elegant gray candles. Delicate swirls of ruffled silver icing on a too-pretty-to-eat wedding cake. A snowy white wedding dress.

Now her world was blood red.

BWAH-HA-HA!!!! Just kidding on the evil laugh, but I have chills running down my spine after five quick paragraphs. Can you imagine how awesome the rest of it is going to be?! So, welcome Lisa Caviness and check out her new release!
