A Little of This, and That

by Margie Senechal

I am waiting for the cable guy. Today we're upgrading to a security system. Not because we're scared or because we live in a dangerous neighborhood--honestly, I've always joked how someone would break into our house and turn around and leave. "I can get better stuff at my own house."

Until last year, we didn't even own a flat screen. And the one we have now is like 32 inches. But--to lower our cable and internet bill, we have to get a security system. How whacked is that? And we'll get more movie channels. Not that we watch them all that much, except for like Game Of Thrones, Outlander, and John Oliver.

Last week, we touched on when and where our muses come out to play. And we collectively decided in the comments--that it's when you can't do anything about it--like when you're driving or in the shower. Kristi said she wanted to get a water-proof white board--which I didn't even know existed (it does).
So, I googled it and Amazon answered. I decided to go with Aqua notes because I can tear off any notes I make and put it in my notebook or file for any given story.

And I must say, I'm quite happy with the purchase. The paper is slick, like stone paper and the pencil just glides across it. The pads have 40 pages and I got the double pack because I intend them to be used. I've only made the one note so far, but it was nice to have it available.

My other writing short-cut are index cards. Last month I found an index card holder at the Clark Community College bookstore and it came with little file dividers so I can conceivably make notes on various projects--which is how my brain seems to work anyway. I keep this holder in my purse so it's with me in the car, at a restaurant, or at work.

If you've never shopped at a college bookstore, I highly recommend it. They have the best pens and writing supplies. I know, like duh. But, they do. I discovered my favorite brand of pens--the Acroballs--before I ever saw them in the store.

And you can usually try them out because they come in clear bins in singles! And you don't have to go to the school--at least the community colleges--to shop in their bookstore.

Okay, lastly, what's with the creepy clown epidemic?? We had a sighting here in town a few days ago. I kinda think it's just a way to get their fifteen minutes of fame, but what if it's something more nefarious?? And you have to feel bad for the honest-to-goodness clowns who just want to earn a living. I'm sure business has gone way down. They might have to supplement by working in haunted houses for Halloween. There's a story in there somewhere...

And to anyone along the South-Eastern seaside, please be safe and well!

  1. I *lurrve* visiting college bookstores (and I love those acroball pens, too)! I found my go-to (papermate flair ultra-fine tip) at Purdue a couple years ago.

    1. They're the best! I discovered this when KB went to OSU and we were buying her books and I just kind of wandered off to the pen selection. It was like heaven on earth. LOL

  2. I haven't been in a college/university bookstore in years, not since my daughters went and we had to buy textbooks. By the time we were done with that, I didn't have any money left for pens! I love your new waterproof whiteboard. That's amazing!

  3. I love pens. I buy them for promotion and end up with them left over because it's hard to give them away!
