Indulge Me!

by Margie Senechal

Piggybacking Kristi's post yesterday, I'm going to talk about pampering yourself.

Ideally, I'd love to go to a beach resort and get a massage as the waves crash just outside the window. So not going to happen, mostly because PNW beaches aren't conducive to such a scene. But, a girl can dream.

Luckily there are smaller, easier obtainable indulgences to be had. And I am enjoying one right now.

*A caramel latte served in a latte mug. No, it's not my first coffee of the day, but to me, there is something special about drinking a specially crafted latte in a wide mug.

*Good chocolate

*Office supplies. As a writer, any sort of office supplies, even a new pen or a bunch of new pens, are a favorite indulgence.

*Daydreams

*An unexpected power nap

*Time alone. For me, this is golden. Working in retail and coming home to three people and a hyper dog--I love my early mornings before everyone else gets up. Even if I just sit and enjoy the calm before the work storm.

*Wooden wick candles that cackle like a fire.

*A great read

*Brainstorming

Your own indulgences are probably different from mine, but my advice to you is to indulge in the little things that make your spirit soar.

Happy Thursday!

  1. some of yours are favorites, too -- like a good read, alone time. I love the scent of my salted caramel candles, baking something from scratch, taking a walk along the marsh near our home, and going PokeMon-ing with bebe on a warm afternoon.

    1. I love baking from scratch too. Especially when I'm doing it just because and not under pressure

    2. Margie, such lovely ideas, and aside from the massage on the beach, they're all attainable indulgences. Right now I think my writing could use the "time alone" one. Love my family, but they provide a lot of distractions!

    3. When I get home from closing--10:30/11:00ish--I get disappointed if anyone is still up because I just want to chill. Lol

  2. My monthly writers meetings are my indulgence. I get away from the needs of the family and housework, chores, etc, and I get to spend a fun afternoon laughing and learning with people who definitely "get" that side of me. Great post, Margie!!

    1. I loved being in a writers group. It's been a long time. But, honestly it was the best inspiration for me.

  3. Nice ones, Margie! I also like the smell of fabric stores even if I don't buy anything (which never happens.)

  4. A new book on my kindle--knowing it's waiting for me; baking at Christmastime, Skyping with the Grandboy, sitting on the sofa with Husband and reading...funny, but there's something very intimate about that. Nice post, Margie!

    1. I know that feeling well. I love to read while Mike and Kristen watch the Blazers or football.
