I realize the correct response to that post title is most likely, "Well . . . yeah," along with a one of those eye-roll kind of looks. I know, I know. I sell books all the time--there's rarely been a whole week when I haven't sold at least one book. But this past Friday, I had an ad for Once More From the Top for 99 cents on BookBub and man, I am selling books! Liz, I promise I'll stop talking about this soon--honest!
Right off, I have to tell you that it's damn near impossible to get an ad with BookBub--they get hundreds of submissions each day and they can only take about 10 or 20 percent of them. But somehow the stars were aligned for me on this tenth try at submitting and they accepted my deal. I was delighted, mostly because book 4 in the Women of Willow Bay Series releases on September 26, and a BookBub ad just a couple of weeks ahead of release day almost guarantees me some sales of Saving Sarah. Hopefully, readers who grabbed Once More From the Top for 99 cents and read it and enjoy it will look for more of my books. That's the goal anyway.
But man, is it ever fun watching your Amazon and iBooks rankings fly up and then finding yourself in the Top 100 Best Selling Books on both sites! Plus, I even sold a respectable number of books at Barnes and Noble, which surprised heck out of me because I confess, I have gone as long as a couple of weeks without a single sale there. It's even more fun to be # 19 on a list of Amazon's and iBooks' 100 Most Popular Contemporary Romance Authors--what a trip!
Here's the thing though, this flurry of activity is fleeting--it'll all be over quick. The drop in numbers today is a very real reminder that I'd best get my little writing behind in gear and get the next series underway. But for the moment, I'm basking a little . . . and I think that's okay.
Have a great Tuesday everyone, and if you were in the path of either Harvey or Irma, please know my thoughts and prayers are with you. Please stay safe! I've donated to disaster relief through my church, and I'll continue sending light and angel wings to you all!

Bask away, my friend! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteMerci, mon amie! It's pretty darn exciting!
DeleteThat's awesome! I remember when my 1st baby hit the Best Seller list on ARE; went to #3, then over the next week dropped to #5...then 7....then disappeared completely. But I have proof it was there, and it was nice while it lasted!
ReplyDeleteYeah, Molly,I took screenshots of all the list-hitting and great numbers. ;-) Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteBask away! Scream it from the rooftops! You deserve it and I'm jumping for joy right there with you!!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Kristi! It's been a fun ride!
DeleteBookBub is an amazing marketing tool, and I'm so happy you got accepted! Didn't you have a promo with them last year also? No matter that sales have dropped some, you hit #23 in the top 100!!! Something to be so proud of, and I'm so happy you, my very talented author friend!
ReplyDeleteIt surely is, Rebecca! I had a promo with them a couple of years ago, but it didn't include the US. It was pretty successful. although nothing like this one. Thanks, sweets!
DeleteSo happy everything went to well with the ad!! Fingers (and toes) crossed you made a list!! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks, my friend! Wouldn't that be a hoot? I've kinda got a knot in my stomach about tomorrow's USA Today list. But whatever happens, this has definitely been a successful campaign. ;-)
DeleteIt was so cool to see your name appear in my book bub! Congrats and many more sales. Anxiously awaiting Saving Sarah!
ReplyDeleteFantastic Nan! I wish you mega sales!
