Meandering . . .

. . . because it's one of those days when I've got nothin'. This past weekend was chaos, ending with Husband and I stranded in the parking lot of our local grocery store because his 14-year-old truck died. We had to call our neighbor to rescue us. The truck is still in the parking lot and Husband is trying to make a decision about what to do with it. He's been down there several times with tools fiddling, listening, testing . . . I think it might be time for a new vehicle. At least that's my position. But I'm being quiet and letting him do what engineers do before they finally admit a machine has given up the ghost.

Summer flew by and I have no idea what happened to September--it was just Labor Day and now it's October. Saving Sarah is out and doing pretty well, but all that just shot past while I was covered up with work. That's not a complaint, just a fact. But it's been good to have work and I'm working on a couple of favorite authors' new books, which is always a treat. However, I've only had one "date" with Liz in the past couple of months, and I'm kinda feeling the need for a 3-hour lunch. My list is getting longer and longer . . .

My own writing is a little on hold, although my head is full of my four Irish brothers and I keep making notes on scraps of paper, in my notebook when I have it close, and even on my phone. Discovery is one of the best parts of writing, don't you think? That sweet time when new stories just begin and characters introduce themselves. My first thoughts about the brothers involved a lot of conflict between them, even some estrangement, but as they're developing, I'm seeing that these guy are close. Even though they might be very different men, they've got each others' backs and they love one another as brothers should. That doesn't mean that their stories won't have conflict--they certainly will, but it won't be because they don't get along with one another.

I've also discovered that if I'm going to write this new series, the only way it's going to happen is if I do what I did with Saving Sarah--get up early every morning and write before I do anything else. That really worked for me but I let life get in the way as it often does, thinking I would write at the end of the day. The other WOWB books got written late at night after Husband fell asleep and the house was quiet. I don't know if it's age or a busy life or what, but staying up into the wee hours just isn't happening for me anymore. I can't seem to be very creative after about ten p.m. Okay, so most nights, I'm dozing on the sofa by that time with my Kindle or my knitting on my lap. Writing at night just ain't gonna cut it anymore.

That's it, kids. I'm out. Except to remind everyone that the 99-cent deal on  Once More From the Top has been extended until October 8, so if you haven't grabbed your copy, be sure to do it soon. The WOWB are officially on the back burner while I work on the Irish brothers, but there could be another story, maybe two, coming from Willow Bay. Anything is possible. Thanks for all the support this community has given the Women of Willow Bay--I appreciate it beyond measure. Go out and make it great day, okay?

    1. I purchased Saving Sarah the other day but haven't had a chance to read it yet. Good luck with your sale. I may have to check that out as well.

Anytime you'd like to brainstorm your new series, I'm in. For me, it's the best part of writing!
