Blustery Days

By Margie Senechal

Today is a blustery day in the neighborhood. Soon to be followed by a bit of snow and ice.

My thoughts  this week are a lot like the wind--everywhere and nowhere at the same time. I'm not sure if it's the wind, my new job, or the headache that's been around for the past day or so.

My birthday was a couple of days ago and we went to see Hidden Figures. I can't imagine how anyone can think we should rewind civil rights in our country.

From my teenage years, I have always enjoyed a good dystopia story--Logan's Run to The Hunger Games. Two of my favorite series in the past couple of years have been dystopia's--Continuum and The 100.

These days they seem a bit too prophetic.

I've thought about getting off social media to avoid the politics and become the proverbial ostrich. But, then do I really want to be uninformed? It's such a quandary. I do have political fatigue, that's for sure.

And then there's reading. And writing. And escaping. If only for a couple of hours at a time. For my reading challenge of 50 books, I've got six in the tank for January. Which is more than I read during the last quarter of 2016.

I highly recommend The Secret Ingredient of Wishes and On Second Thought.

Now, to get to writing and create my own escape.

  2. Hidden Figures is a movie I really want to see. Last night I turned off the news and pulled out a book. Can't take any more bad news.

    1. Hidden Figures was sooo, so good. And it had Kevin Costner. Win-win in my book. I'm with you on the news.

  3. Hope you're feeling better. A lot of bluster going on these days, of one kind or another. :-)
