Hello, 2023...Catching Up by Liz Flaherty

Good morning and Happy New Year! I hope you had wonderful holidays. My family did, although few things went according to plan. That actually seems to be our way of doing things, and it works out. Duane and I saw or talked to virtually everyone we love, including each other, so I could not have asked for more.

My friend Joan Reeves, in another group of writers, Romance Gems, suggested that we make a list of our five top writing goals for the year. Almost all of us jumped on that, so I'm sharing my list here and challenging you to do the same thing. You can do it publicly or privately, share  it or not, but make it manageable and make it fun.

Here's mine:

  1. Finish my women’s fiction book.
  2. Write a novella for Christmas Town.
  3. A few more craft shows and/or signings.
  4. Do more sprints, even if I’m alone in them. My preference is sprinting with others. There is no better way to light a🔥 under my keyboard!
  5. Take part in a box set or collection other than Christmas—one with older protagonists.

I hope I get all those things done. If I don't, it will just mean more to do in 2024!

To start the New Year off with a bang, I have re-released A Soft Place to Fall in both ebook and paperback with a pretty new cover. Truly a book of my heart, I'm glad to see it revived and renewed. Its buy links are https://tinyurl.com/2d6pha3f and https://books2read.com/u/bW57yx. Also, for right now, there are a few copies available for review purposes on Booksprout
I had some excitement, too, when Reinventing Riley, Book 2 in the Second Chances Series was chosen as the Best Book of the Year in the sweet romance category by N. N. Light Book Heaven.

My personal blog, Window Over the Sink, hosted guest bloggers every day from Thanksgiving through New Year's Eve. It was so much fun, and we got to hear some wonderful writing voices tell us holiday stories.

I should get back to work before I get hoarse talking about myself. I'm working on a women's fiction book now. Pieces of Blue has me pretty absorbed these days. I'm so glad and grateful to be a writer!

  2. Big goals for you, but I have no doubt you'll prevail! I really only have one - I've started writing a stage play based on the songs written by Indiana native John Cougar. I'm excited to switch up my writing.

    1. Oh, that sounds great! It's always been at the back of my mind that I should try to write a play...but haven't ever had what I thought was a viable idea.
