More favorite things--and a giveaway!

Once again, I find myself speechless.

Yeah, I didn't think you'd believe that. However, I don't have anything of value to offer this week, so I'm going to present the infamous list of favorites. I'm making things up as I go along. Feel free to join in or roll your eyes and say, "Geez, why didn't she just stick with speechless?" :-)
1. Favorite mode of travel: I want to take a long train trip.
2. Favorite destination you haven't gone to yet: Alaska, all the way to the tip.
3. Favorite state you've visited:  Vermont.
4. Favorite pizza toppings: mushrooms, black olives, cheese by the pound, most everything else
5. Favorite car: Whichever one I'm driving, which right now is a 2011 Equinox. I do have a soft spot for my 1986 Camaro.
6. Favorite coat: I know this is goofy, but I always have a pea coat. Colors differ from time to time, but I always go back to the same basic style.
7. Favorite song that makes you feel mushy inside: Desperado, Country Roads, Amazing Grace, Sounds of Silence, Let it Be, How Great Thou Art. And no, I can't name just one. No.
8. Favorite piece of jewelry: Right now, the amethyst necklace Duane got me. That will change.
9. Favorite hobby: Sewing.
And for the writing side of you:
10. Favorite conference: Chicago North's Spring Fling of 2014--it was so much fun!
11. Favorite trope: Probably friends to lovers. Or marriage of convenience. Or...
12. Favorite cover type: Any one without people on it.
13. Favorite hero: The nice guy. With hair on his chest and a butt that looks nice in his not-too-tight jeans. He's probably scared of snakes.
14. Favorite heroine: Somebody I want to be friends with, who'll have my back and I'll have hers. Who's neither fearless nor a wuss. She'll scare the snake away for her hero, but he'll get rid of the spider in the bathtub for her.
15. Favorite category you like to read: I love 19th century Americana historicals, old Regencies, and sweet contemporaries with over-40 protagonists. Once again, no, I can't name just one.
16. Favorite swag: My new stockings for my Christmas novella, The Magic Stocking. Aren't they cute? I've got one for a lucky commenter on today's post. I may even stick a present in it! Sorry, only USA residents.

Have a great week!

Liz

  1. That xmas stocking is adorable!!! Did you sew it yourself? Fab swag idea - I may or may not be stealing it should I ever write a Christmas story. My favourite hobby is knitting thought, so it may be a knitted stocking. My current favourite pizza topping is pesto, made with the basil from our CSA farm share - yum!!

    1. Oh, that sounds good! My friend Missy Hileman made the stockings. I have sewn stockings before, but she has an embroidery machine (and is a whole lot craftier than I am!) so she just made the whole thing up. I love them.

  2. Liz, I love your favorite things and that you listed them for us. And I love, love, love your Magic Stocking. Shouldn't you make everyone who has a story in Heartwarming Holidays one of those??? Ha, wishful thinking.

    1. Lol. I think you could probably come up with a ballet slipper there, Roz. :-)

  3. Liz, your stocking is so, so cute! You have excellent taste in music. Alaska is also on my "must go" list. My favorite state that I've visited (besides my own Washington) is Idaho (the northern part). But I've never seen any of the New England states either. Sheesh, I really need to get out more. Fun list. Thanks for sharing.

  4. I agree that stocking is very cute! I hate to think of Christmas, yet. I've written about Alaska in my stories, but I've never been there. Love your list, but it seems to keep changing, doesn't it?

    1. It changes all the time! I like that part of it, too. I wrote the story during the summer and watched Hallmark Christmas movies during July, so I'm okay with thinking Christmas. I must admit, though, my real fun starts in November. :-)

  6. I've been to Alaska twice. The first time, we spent a week in Anchorage, Seward and Valdez, then took a cruise down to Vancouver. The second time, we went to Fairbanks in the winter to see the Northern Lights (they were spectacular!). I hope to go back again sometime.

    1. I have friends who just did a two-month drive across country and all the way up to "the end of the road." Their pics are spectacular and so are the adventures they're telling about. I've heard that cruise is wonderful, too!

  9. Now that is a list you can sink your eyes into. Sewing? I envy that one. Great stocking.

  10. I love, live the stocking and am so excited to read the story that goes with. 1. Because you wrote it. 2. Because it has a magic stocking. 3. Because you wrote it. There's my list for today :)

I think if I'd ever been there Vermont would be one of my favorite states to visit. I loved Newhart, after all. But, since I haven't been I'd have to say that the rest of Washington state is my favorite--Seattle, Leavenworth, and the San Juan Islands--even if it's been decades since I've been there.

  11. I'd love to see the San Juans! And thank you, Margie.

  12. Nice stocking! I tried hanging panty hose over the fireplace to see if Santa would bring me more.
